Betty Boop Started As a Poodle?

Cartoon Character Entered Public Domain Jan. 1, 2026

Betty Boop at your service outside the Rootin’ Tootin’ hot dog stand — actually quite a sizable restaurant — in Stroudsburg, one of the larger cities in eastern Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountain region. Betty Boop was originally an animated cartoon character who first appeared in 1930. Her saucy image soon spread to advertising uses.
